New York Calling: From Blackout to Bloomberg
Thursday, February 7th @ 6:30 PM
Dangerous and decaying, or vibrant and vital? Take a step back into 1970s New York and explore how the five boroughs have changed—for better or worse—in the last 30 years. Join Robert Christgau, senior critic at Rolling Stone and contributing critic on NPR’s All Things Considered, as he moderates a discussion of the city’s changing face. Joining him will be Marshall Berman, Distinguished Professor of Political Science at CUNY Graduate Center, and photographer/journalist Brian Berger, co-editors of the anthology New York Calling: From Blackout to Bloomberg (Reaktion Books Ltd., 2007);
John Strausbaugh, New York Times contributor and host of the "Weekend Explorer" video podcast series on New York; and Philip Dray, Pulitzer Prize-nominated journalist and historian.
